September 26, 2015 Re Creation in Nature

The hike this month is Monroe Ridge Trail in the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. from Sacramento, take US 50 East to Placerville, turn left onto Spring street (second traffic signal in Placerville). Turn left onto CA 49 (Coloma Rd) and drive 7.7 miles to Coloma. When you reach Coloma, the Coloma Rd will turn into Main Street. Look for the visitor center on the left.
Parking fee $10. Parking is available at the visitor center or across the Main Street at the two large parking lots next to the South Fork American River.
dogs: not allowed
length: 2.9 miles easy to moderate scenery:
foothill woodland with Manzanita, panoramic view of historic gold-mining town
travel time: 1 hour from Sacramento
Meet in the Woodside Parking Lot for carpooling at 2:20pm

Welcome to a night of MOMSnext.
Please join us across the bridge in the Center.
We will have a potluck dinner at 6:30pm and our program will start at 7pm-9pm.
We will have MOMS swap and a video (time willing)
Please bring your gentle used adult and kid items to swap. You can bring them by Early morning or at 6:30pm and we will put them out. Bring extra bags to take items home or to pack up to take to the thrift.

Whatever is left will be donated to Smart Thrift

Sabbath Day Retreat Aug 29, 2015
Bring a potluck lunch. Good shoes and your cameras. Fun, Games, Food, Fellowship, Nature Trail, Gentle River Access, Water Play.

Bear Valley has an easy nature trail, a creek to splash in, a meadow to play in, and, of course, all inspiring around the camp ground fun that little ones seem to get so dirty doing,  Rick will have an activity for kids but it won’t be appropriate for the littlest ones.  We will have a smaller worship period, potluck lunch, and a whole lot of fellowship.  There are a couple of lakes nearby  by car.

Robie Point Trail $10 Parking
From Auburn take highway 49 south. As you pass under the railroad trestle and start down the hill toward the American river confluence, parking is 1/2 mile on the right. The trailhead is at the green gate marked “Gate 130 – Murphy’s Gate to Robie point.

This is an Easy to Moderate trail with some good views of the American River Canyon, Foresthill Bridge and the old Auburn Dam construction site.
